Influencing systemic improvement in public administration

We are committed to continuous improvement of our services and conduct surveys of our complainants, used to measure the efficacy of services provided to the complainants, the timeliness of responses and identify areas of improvement. We would like as many people to participate as possible and we ask people who have had contact with us to take part in the survey. EY Sweeney may contact you about your participation. You can choose whether you provide information – it is voluntary. Any information you choose to provide is kept secure, confidential and will be stored separately from our records about your complaint. Further information on the survey and privacy can be found here. If you do not wish to be contacted about your experience using our services, please complete the online enquiry form available from our Contact page (https://www.ombudsman.gov.au/contact) – select ‘Provide feedback’ as your enquiry type. If you are unable to complete the form, contact us on 1300 362 072.

Subject: Commonwealth Ombudsman Complaint – 2024-103337 Christopher Mumford [SEC=OFFICIAL]

Our ref: 2024-103337

Dear Mr Mumford

I refer to your recent email correspondence with our Office.

Since 1 January 2024, you have sent our Office 100 emails outlining concerns about multiple issues, including NSW Police, NSW Health, NSW Justice, Centrelink and the Australian Government. The volume of your email contact is excessive.

Furthermore, many of these emails are not directed to our Office, but we are courtesy copy recipients. This has made it challenging to understand your concerns, and how we may be able to assist.

We are open to considering complaints from you, where they are within our jurisdiction. However, to ensure that we properly understand your concerns, you must advise the following when you lodge a complaint with our Office:

         Which Commonwealth department or agency your complaint is about

         The action or decision you are complaining about

         Any steps you have taken to try and resolve the issue with the department or agency; and

         The outcome you are seeking.

If you wish to raise a complaint that our Office has not previously considered, you can telephone our Office on 1300 362 072 to lodge a complaint. If you are unable to phone our Office or would prefer to lodge your complaint online you can do so here via our webform.

We ask that you please refrain from repetitively emailing our Office. Unless a new complaint or request for contact is received, this Office will not progress your communication further.

If you continue to excessively email our Office we will consider implementing changes to how you can contact us.  This may include blocking your emails from reaching our Office.

Yours sincerely

Kristina
